Dova Temple

As part of sightseeing in Ella, the Dova rock temple, located in Dova, Ella, is a must visit for its historical significance and serene surroundings.

The Dova Raja Maha Viharaya is situated on the Bandarawela-Badulla road and is easily accessible when staying at our resort. The temple is reputed to have been built in the first century B.C. by King Walagamba.

What to see:

• The image house
• The well preserved murals in the first and second chambers
• The incomplete statue of the Buddha
• The sealed off entrance to the tunnel that stretches as far as eleven kilometres
