98 Acres Resort and Spa gets its striking name from the land on which it has been built...a scenic tea estate on ninety-eight acres of land in fascinating Ella, Bandarawela, Sri Lanka. The colonial era in Ceylon saw this tea estate being larger in extent, owned and managed by a British national and famously known as the ‘Southerland tea estate’. Estate ownership eventually moved to the UHE Group and was renamed ‘Uva Greenlands’. The plantation, while continuing to produce fine quality Uva, medium elevation Pure Ceylon Tea showed promise as an ideal location for an eco-friendly Ella boutique hotel.
The uniquely placed site in full view of ‘Little Adam’s Peak’, and the salubrious climate of Ella all worked in favour of the resort project going into implementation within a short period of time. The finalised plan for 98 Acres Resort and Spa called for relaxing accommodation that would also take into consideration the preservation of the surrounding environment.
The emphasis on eco-friendliness and sustainable methods of construction have made 98 Acres Resort and Spa a completely out of the ordinary location to holiday, a place that you will want to come back to...again and again!
